To ensure CD Circles benefit everyone, we’ve created communication guidelines to foster a supportive and enriching environment for learning and sharing. The following list outlines our group guidelines for Circles:
Communication Guidelines
Ensure everyone has a chance to speak & be heard
Frame challenges as opportunities
Ask for input actively
Set a tone of inclusion and respect
Keep communication professional and positive
Keep chats outside of focus time (10 am-1 pm ET)
Strategize your message to get what you need
Be concise and direct, avoid breaking messages up into multiple pieces to minimize notifications
Avoid very long messages instead use a voice/loom
Use @ to tag those who need to see your message
Reply in the thread not to the entire channel
What NOT to Communicate in the Channel
Swear Words, Insults, or Harsh Language
Political Agendas
Misinformation
If You Host Circle Meetings(optional)
Record all meetings and keep the sessions accessible for those who cannot attend.
Types of gatherings could include coffee chats, happy hours, lunch hangouts, welcome calls for new CDs, brainstorming sessions, best practices sharing, office walk-arounds, and co-working time.
Keep it light: These meetings should not feel like an extra burden.
Consider an agenda like "highlights and challenges".
Highlights: Share recent wins or interesting insights.
Challenges: Bring up obstacles or questions where input from peers would be valuable.
